Ruth E Lyons is currently installing a large scale sculptural work in the immense ground floor gallery at the LAB for her forthcoming exhibition. Working primarily in large scale sculptural installations and public works, Lyons is often inspired by vast landscapes and the appearance of utilitarian infrastructures within them. Her work derives from a consideration of how these material infrastructures might be perceived in a distant future or by a people for whom science is not the central focus of the day.
Also starting today is Outside the Lines. Here's the description from Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County Arts Office:
Outside the Lines platforms a range of contemporary drawing practice in Dun Laoghaire Rathdown County. It presents work by selected artists who are pursuing drawing as a practice in its own right or for whom it forms an important element of their process or visual language. The exhibition includes both traditional approaches as well as work by artists who are re-imagining the possibilities of drawing as a mark making process and using it in innovative ways by applying unconventional tools and methodologies.
