Phizzfest is a Phibsborough community festival running from the 8th - 11th September. It's the second year of the festival which is developed and run by local volunteers from Phibsborough's multinational community. This year's emphasis is on "arts and health" and features comedy, theatre, cookery, family fun events, music and, er, canoe polo. Of particular interest, at least to me, is a visit to the Grangegorman museum on the Saturday and a play based on the 1901 & 1911 census returns of the Hanlon family of Phibsborough. I think it's fantastic to see a community pull together an action-packed weekend of events and shows an admirable interest in their locality. All these events are free too.
